In this Thrifting For Profit Show with Debra Conrad, we discuss … Organizing Your Space – Be More Efficient.
It’s a well known issue with many Amazon and eBay sellers – we are disorganized! Who has time to make an efficient space?
Yet – when our space is efficient, we are more productive.
Last week we started a thread on the Thrifting For Profit Facebook Group – and asked all to share their organizing and efficiency tips. What a great response – and we are sharing it all with you today. The Good – Bad and the Ugly.
Today, Charlene Anderson of Purveyor Of All Things Creative is helping me answer questions on the air and in the chat room.
Sharing Some Of The Organized (and disorganized) Spaces
I won’t name – names, but the caption of this photo is “I really need help!!!”
Many others jumped on the FaceBook thread and commented they had similar situations. Including this one captioned “Always stack your inventory in a nice – neat & orderly pile.”
Another photo with this caption “My problem is getting a system that works. I have two big shelves but when people help me carry stuff in they just put the bags on t he floor and then I can’t get to the selves. I am a very methodical lister. I do get it done but it can be overwhelming.”
And this one captioned with one word “Incoming“… 🙂
Let’s Look At Some Efficient Organized Spaces
Bubble Wrap And Packing Materials
Ed’s homemade bubble wrap hanger. “I always had my bubble wrap sitting on the floor always in the way. Now I have it hanging out of the way.”
Luna C Ayuni -“My bubble wrap hangs from the ceiling on leftover chandelier chain & a couple of cup hooks.“
This is Charlene’s solution:
And Debra’s Solution:
I use these garment racks to store my eBay clothing – Just another use of a mobile device for organizing shipping supplies. 😎
How About FLAT Space To Process?
I use my dining room table – and extra folding tables when needed. I don’t like to bend and lift – so everything needs to be UP off the floor.
Mark shared his flat space for processing:
Storing Bags – Little Slippy Sloppy Things
Charlene stores her bags in a shoe holder:
As soon as I saw this picture I found one of these shoe holders for my own bag storage. Over-The-Door Shoe Organizer
This works well for small qty’s of bags – but I added some bins to hold large bags, in large qty. Epic Fail!
Now I am going to graduate UP to a cart for bags
Labels – So Many To Choose From
Eventually you will have rolls of labels that seem to get messy in the hurry of processing:
Charlene uses one of these racks (I’m going to get one of these soon!)
I’ve made a makeshift box to keep them corralled for now:
And yet another creative idea:
What About Work Stations?
Charlene has the perfect work station set up:
I have my workstations spread out a bit more – and they are all counter height (not table height):
Where To Put Your Impulse Sealer
At this point, my impulse sealer and supplies have never had a real home.
This sealer sits at the end of my processing table with all the supplies behind it and a cutting board in front (the cutting board is so product will sit up level to the heating element)
I really love the idea of the cart Charlene uses:
I’ll confess right here – I keep inventory in my car until I’m ready to process. It’s like having an extra room – giggle. It’s a dumb blond idea – but it works for me.
Much of my inventory is kept right in the box and processed from the stack:
It took me a while to catch on the the shelving storage idea.
I like that these are sturdy and on wheels: Commercial Chrome Steel Wire Shelves
We got lot’s of shelving tips in the Facebook group:
Mark shared his:
Amy built her own:
Learned how to build them here:
Supply and Ebay Storage Ideas
And The Holy Grail Of eBay Storage
Charlene Anderson tops it in my opinion:
Okay… Have A Great Weekend and Happy Sourcing!
That’s my story… and I’m sticking to it…
