Hubby and I arrived in Vegas Thursday evening and we thought we would have a leisurely evening… not so. We had a little problem (which always is a huge problem for me) with connecting to the internet in our hotel room. We didn’t worry much about it, and headed off to dinner (we had free meal vouchers for the buffet) and a bit of slot action for me.
I had to be pulled off the slots at 8ish p.m. (I was winning!) and head over to Fry’s Electronics to pick up a small piece that would make the hotel internet and my laptop talk to each other. Well… the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 grabbed me by the arm and would NOT LET GO. The store only had one left… and it went home with me.
Anyway… we had a new toy to play with and I still wanted to keep my “hot streak” going… so back to the hotel we went. Hubby played with getting us connected to internet and I played more slot action and was still “ahead” when I finally toddled off to bed… late. Of course, sleep didn’t come easy and I didn’t get much of it… so when the sun rose, my sleepy eyes rose right with it.
We got our act together and headed over to Danni’s home – as I was doing our live podcast from her office. Of course… we got a bit lost and arrived with not much time to spare. (Story of my travels… I’m always a “bit lost”. Danni opened the door and we both stepped into all of her “Ebay-ness” and the immersion was instant! Stuff that will be sold is “everywhere”.
Can I just say that – Jaws Dropped!
We had to quickly compose ourselves and get set up for the podcast. As Danni was a guest on our show… and Beth was also traveling and had to pull into a parking lot and hook up her laptop… it was a bit of mass confusion/chaos. AND… at the same time Danni was trying to finish up her newsletter and we kept interrupting her. We were yanking chairs around and clearing the entire end of Danni’s desk for my laptop… finding a spot for hubby to take pictures… get the headphones plugged in… all the while, I am gawking at all the treasures in just this one room.
Let me give you a small picture of what it is like in Danni’s home (hallways, bathroom, dining room, living room, office and garage) – it’s like the best antique mall you have ever been in! Huge plaster coke bottles, stacks and stacks of vintage art, shelves of glass (I mean shelves and shelves and cabinets of glass). Lamps (from crystal floor lamps to rusty desk lamps)… huge iconic candlesticks (I’m still drooling over them) and soooo much more.
I pulled myself together and finally got everything “set up” for the podcast:
Everything was going along fine until Danni and I started talking on our headset’s and we could also hear each other talking normally. This was the strangest echo that only we could hear… and of course I started laughing – really laughing!
I tried not looking at Danni, while we were talking…
Then Danni tried not looking at me…
We made it through to the end of another great podcast:

We Went Shopping!
After we took another tour of the garage and Danni’s shipping center, photo taking center, how she organized products that are listed on eBay and so much more… she loaded us up into her car and we took off! (Of course we did stop for food… because shopping is hard work and we need our energy!)
Hard to believe but we only made it to ONE store! Of course… we spent hours in that store. The first “find” of the day was a “Paint By Numbers” kit (which I knew was a hot product from watching “The Danni App Show”:
We had two reasons this scouting took so long,
1) Danni was teaching me so much. I feel like I got a weeks worth of teaching from just 2 short days of scouting.
2) This store held the mother load of eBay stuff for Danni… it seemed that she was squealing with delight around every corner!
Under all this pile – way at the bottom of the cart (you can’t see it) is a very large glass piece (some kind of bowl). We had a lady stalking us around the store for a while, asking “Are you sure you want that?“. LOL… Danni kept saying “YES, I’m Sure I Want It!“. Thrift store shoppers in Vegas are pretty brazen! 😎
Boring Box Bonanza!
If you have never seen Danni Do “The Happy Dance”… you have missed an experience. These boring boxes caught her eye and when she looked them up on her phone… the squeal was muffled because she was trying not to call attention.
Then we had to get the “stock guys” to help us load up her “find” and haul it up to the front checkout counter:
Then We Headed To Toys and Plush
I have never seen anyone get so excited about PLUSH!
Well… Danni started to teach me about buying plush…
And… YES, you must “sniff” the plush! This is me “sniffing”…
And I learned to read tags:
And then we compared selling this plush on Ebay to Amazon… turns out this specific plush wasn’t good for either:
Then We Both Looked UP!
Danni Want’s That “Wile E Coyote”!
And… She Got It!
And… of course I had to make the “Sniff Test”:
He passed the test:
Finally… it was time to checkout.
Score card: Danni had 4 carts full including a huge HUGE Yoda figurine from Star Wars.. (we missed taking a picture of it) and had a gal in the parking lot begging to buy it from Danni… but she wouldn’t offer enough. Danni said she could sell it for much more on eBay!
Me… I had 1/2 cart. I am soooo picky for Amazon product sourcing.
We aren’t finished shopping yet! Day 2 is next…
After a full day of fun with Danni Akerman, hubby and I went out for a nice meal and his special birthday gift from me… we went to see “KA” at the MGM Grand. (Great show – I highly recommend it for any age. No show girl flashy stuff… and great special effects). After all the fun of the day… we filled hours for ourselves and got to bed very late – again.
I got up early… to edit the podcast and catch up on some paperwork. Then hubby and I headed out for a healthy breakfast and then we were off to Danni’s house.
More Shopping! Scouting for product with Danni is Fun…
Danni piled us back into her car… and off we went to another great thrift store. First score of the day… I am taking full credit for. I had recently read that these Billy Big Mouth Bass are good sellers on eBay:
We didn’t get many pictures of day 2… but I can say that this store wasn’t quit the haul that we had in the previous store. We did a lot of book and other media scouting in this store and found some great deals. Hubby and Danni were really scouring these shelves:
This is where Danni and I can really see our different shopping habits:
We did hit one more small thrift store… and we scored some great products as well. All in all we were all pooped and thrilled with our scores.
NOTE: Hubby and I also did some retail arbitrage shopping on this trip as well. Our car ended up loaded with our luggage and inventory.
The Challenge Is ON!
I’ll be putting together an inventory challenge with Danni. We are going to track our purchases, sales and profit for this weekends shopping and give you an update soon. It’s a fun competition between us and a motivation to get it all listed soon!
Look over our shoulders as we learn to scout the “Danni App” way…
p.s. Thanks again Danni for sharing all your eBay-ness. Can’t wait until we can do it all again!
