Your home or office is often filled with profitable products (essentially they are free) that you can sell on Amazon and Ebay to get your feet wet and learn “how to sell products”.
Then What? Once you have cleaned out your closets and cabinets… you need more inventory.
I’ve been selling old toys and games on Amazon for over 3 years and love the profits. I’ve sold some games for over $100!! Of course – most games and toys go for much less, but they are good – steady sellers for very nice profits.
The Good and Bad
- Easy to find (cheap or free)
- Easy to ship – Because games are in boxes, it’s easy to fit a huge stack of them into boxes to ship to Amazon (my favorite place to sell).
- Counting the pieces takes time and effort
- Often missing pieces (I find them easily on eBay)
- Stickers and Tape are a pain to remove (Thrift stores are notorious for using half a roll of tape to seal up a game… lol)
Holiday Profits Are Huge
I sell games and toys all year… but I really made out with huge profits during the last holiday season when I had a ton of “collectible” game inventory.
Many of the games I sold would normally sell all year in the $25 range. During the last week before Christmas I sold a ton of games between $39 and $89 – Woot!
This is the perfect time of year to hunt for used games and toys. Why? Because Mom is cleaning out the closets of all the old toys to make room for the influx of new gifts that is common for every child.
It’s easy pickings for us. 😉
What Toys And Games Should We Look For?
Because I don’t have small “kids” at home – I was at a loss when looking at games and toys a few years ago. I could stand in the thrift store and scan every game… but that is so time consuming (In my opinion).
I needed to shorten up the learning curve… and who better to learn from than the master himself? Jordan Malik! I’ve talked with him several times and he always says that toys and games are his bread and butter when it comes to selling products. He may dive into other categories, but he knows that certain games and toys are always easy to to find and are always profitable.
I read his Resell Toys guide last year over and over. We even printed it and stuck it in a binder for my hubby to carry around. Some of the toys in this guide I have sold over and over for great profits… I’ve even found some of them on Ebay and sold them on Amazon.
I keep the latest version of this guide on Evernote – so I will have it with me when I am at the thrift stores and yard sales. This guide will make sourcing for specifics quick and easy.

Personally… I’ve sold just one toy from this entire guide that made enough profit to more than pay for the guide. Some of the games I see often in my local thrift stores and some of them I’ve never seen before.
Most of the toys and games have very low competition on Amazon – meaning, not very many sellers are going for the gold.
